Come on now

Yesterday a friend and fellow poet told me that he performed at a church. A minister at Faithful Central, a very large church in Los Angeles, saw him in traffic and said he recognized him and asked if he would perform at the church. He agreed. He showed up and performed and was paid and sold his CDs. He was invited back to perform and this time was told that he could not sell his CDs. No, not because of the cursing. They understood that, the minister said. Not because his cd wasn't a Christian cd. But because in one of his poems he called God a woman.

So let me get this straight. God can be a lawyer in the courtroom, doctor in the hospital, wheel in the middle of the wheel (I never did understand what that means), and everything else the song says. God can be everything we need, except a mother? What kinda...?
