A poem a day for 2013 - day 76 - Dear Uraeus

Find what makes you happy and serves the world
What lights you up and makes a difference
What gives you life
What keeps you up at night
Has you wake early morning
What is big enough that it deserves your attention
Sacred enough to fold and put in your pocket
For later
What will grow old with you
What will make you laugh
What will be worth your money
Your time
Your sore fingers to the bone
Your heavy tired eyes
Your tears and your forgiveness
What will be so important you hide
Under your mattress until the right time
To pull it out
Who will you show first
How will you make its introduction
Find what beats your heart
What moves your limbs
What spins your brain
What keeps you going
And be
That
Thing

  1. So... I'm crying and reading the words over and over and over and over and over and over... "and be THAT thing"...

  2. Is it "too late" to "be That Thing..."? That's the question dogging me today as I reread these words again...
