A poem a day for 2013 - day 132 - Mother's Day

Marva older than she look
Still got smooth pretty skin and good white teeth
She walk everywhere she go
Scrub floors and do laundry all day
Serve food out the drive thru window at night
Got a kind word for everybody she meet
Marva off on Sundays
Only day of the week
She had two sons
One died in the war
Other on the streets
She like coffee with her donut
Every Sunday afternoon
Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day
Lady say to all the women one by one
Hello Ma'am, are you a mother?
Ma'am?
Ma'am, are you a mother?
No I am not
She say softly to the lady
No I am not
She take her coffee
She eat her donut slow
Slow
