The apology

When my stepfather passed the nurse in the hospital approached her and said "I'm sorry for your loss" before the doctor told her that he had died. We started noticing how often we heard that. "I'm sorry for your loss." At the hospital. The wake. The funeral. At church months after. People just don't know what to say. So they apologize.
