A poem a day for 2013 - day 72 - poem 2 - Lost and found

What do I know about love
Except how unpredictable
It should feel under your tongue
How big and heavy it should feel in your lap
And setting it aside would feel like
The sinnigest sin ever
Who would put love down
Now matter how heavy it was to hold
The best heavy
Like the heat against your back
Your lover brings
In the middle of the night
What you gon say
To that kind of feel good
Too hot, too heavy in your lap
Kind of love

I know love should fill your whole stomach all up
Easy like the best seat on the bus
On a crowded South Central Monday
What do you know about
That kind of easy
That kind of kind
That knows when your troubles come
Will put itself between your crying naked body
And the cold hard street if it had to

Who are we to should love anyway
We can't even should our lonely selves
Walking 'round here looking for love
Under rocks
Behind the plants and trees
Between couch cushions
Around the cabinet doors
