I am thankful today for today
For the sun
For my son
For my friends
My family
I am thankful for working as a photographer
Even though my legs are stiff and sore
I am thankful for documenting smiles
For pressing dance and laughter into history
I am thankful for the many conversations
About race
About justice
Freedom
I am thankful for eyes open to the what's so of the world
Though bitter
And sweet
Sand and rock
Juice
Sour
Heal
I am thankful for breathing through the moment
All of the moments
Thankful for the ten minutes my car would not start today
For turning the key to no sound
No start
I am thankful that a car that would not start
For ten minutes was the worst part of my day
