Gratitude

I am thankful for this day
For the gray clouds and possibility of rain
I am thankful for peace and ease
For food and shelter
I am thankful for my family and friends
For a writing class and words and art and stories
For clean water and fresh air
I am thankful for my son
So thankful for my son
For the village that rears and loves him
I am thankful for time with my mother
For lying in bed and audio books
I am thankful for simple
For my functioning limbs
My eyesight and voice
For ten fingers and ten toes
For knees that bend and a back that straightens
I am thankful to be going to bed with good thoughts
