I am so angry about Tanya McDowell being sentenced to twelve years in jail for sending her son to a school outside of the district where she lived. I am probably too angry to be posting anything about this right now. But what time is better than now? I am upset about the sentence and upset about the lack of noise about it. How are we going to let this woman sit in jail for twelve years? Or five years? Or fifty more minutes without fighting, writing, doing something against Connecticut's "Stay in your place, Chocolate face" law? Because that's what it is. And she did not "steal an education" she sent her six years old son to school. To school. This has been going on forever. If she felt the schools near her were better she would have sent him there. I'm ranting. I know. Let me.
Where are our voices? Not just black women, white women too! White women in Connecticut, where are your voices? White feminists where are you now? This is in all of our laps. Breathe, Jaha. Breathe.
More later because...I...can't.
