We ate food and shared dessert
From the same bowl
Remembered stories
Pulled truth out our bellies
Piece at a time
We are not new inside each others comfort zones
We've been at this table before
In a different place
Sharing sweets
These are my sisters
I am thankful
Magical
I conjure women from my yesterday
Who are not afraid
To come out in the night
Smile in my face
Hold my hand
I will dream the sweetest of dreams tonight
Of their fingers and fists that are not afraid to love
Of their eyes and teeth
That grab hold to social justice and
Bend and stand and fight to set children free
These are the women I know
With all this backbone
And soft pretty faces
I would share kale salad and brown rice ice cream
Anytime they want
These are the women I know
These women who would share everything with me
