A poem a day for 2013 - day 13 - Hello

At a party recently 
A woman sat next to me and I asked
"What do you enjoy"
I learned about her two boys and girl 
Her husband's spaghetti and bread
God and the moon under which she was born
I told her about my photography and son
The color red 
The new cotton on my bed
We looked into each others eyes
I can still describe the twists in her hair
The single dimple next to her chin
We laughed and then 
Because time always goes so fast 
The night was over
And I learned more about her world
And her favorite sweater blue
Than I would have ever
Had I asked
"What do you do"
