My letter to those in the spiral today

Please breathe
Please let air fill your lungs
At least halfway
Then release it slowly
And remember to be generous with yourself

Forgive yourself for the pajamas
Laugh at your disheveled hair and funky breath
Smile at the dishes in the sink
They will be there tomorrow

Tomorrow, sweet tomorrow
See yourself in tomorrow however you can
Doing dishes, sweeping the floor, putting the cups away
Whatever

Do something that makes you feel good today
Something
Cartoons, Law and Order, scrabble

Get up
Walk to the porch
Or the front door
Or just stand
Right there where you are

If you were lying on the bed
Then sit on the couch
Wiggle your toes
And feel yourself alive
Feel the life up through your legs and knees
Up through your hips
Your stomach your chest

Put your hands on your cheeks your mouth
Your nose and eyes
Then breathe again
This time deeper than before

Rest when you need to
Cry if you want to
Then water your thirsty plants
And see yourself in tomorrow
Again
