I don't have to tell you they were white men
I don't have to tell you the bodies were Black and Brown
I don't have to tell you the shooters were taken into custody safely
Because white
Because white lives matter in the back of a police car on the way to the station
Because white men breathing matters
Because somebody has to put in the work
Because the president doesn't have to pull the trigger
Because we are already triggered
Because white men pull triggers
I don't have to tell you we are talking about mental illness again
We are talking about violent video games again
I don't have to tell you we are not talking about guns again
We are not calling them terrorists this time either
I don't have to tell you that people were not killed
Animals were killed
Illegals were killed
Future gang members were killed
They taking all the jobs anyway right
They making babies and going on welfare anyway right
As if we were not already afraid to send our children to school
As if we were not already afraid to step outside ourselves
To get the morning paper
To read about another body left on the ground
Because our tears have created oceans
Because our fears have created colonies
Because we keep thinking and praying
And singing and marching
And a change gon come
And praying and praying
In the name of Nat Turner
Amen
