Page's mother, Scottie and her stepfather, Gerald wanted Page to keep quiet about the sexual advances that the minister, Rev. Harper was making on her. They said that it would cause trouble within the family and at the church. They especially didn't want her to tell her father, Spike. When Spike killed Rev. Harper many members of the church, including Scottie and Gerald, blamed Page.
