Toni Morrison is gone and the world lost a great treasure

10:23am. Palmdale. I logged on to Facebook early this morning and one of the first posts I read was news that Toni Morrison died. That really hurt. I feel like I lost family. I never met her. But I loved her dearly. On nights I couldn't sleep, many nights, I used to watch videos of her. Watch her interviews. Watch her read parts of her novels. Just watch her talk. I learned so much from her. So much about dedication to the craft of writing. She was the only writer I knew who purposely wrote without the "white gaze." And she did it so well. I don't think the world knows who it lost. I will miss her greatly.
